Operational experience. Professional instruction.

Wilco Marine Training was established by Steve Wilkinson, combining military, emergency-service and maritime instructional experience.

STEVE WILKINSON

A practical foundation for maritime safety training.

Steve brings extensive military, operational emergency-service and instructional experience to maritime safety training.

With a background in the Royal Navy and 27 years of professional Fire & Rescue Service experience, Steve has developed specialist expertise in maritime firefighting, emergency response and crew safety.

This combination of experience provides a strong practical foundation for delivering effective training to professional crews.

OPERATIONAL EXPERIENCE

Experience that comes from real incidents.

Steve was a member of the UK MIRG team, latterly called the Fire & Rescue Maritime Response Team (FRMR), providing a specialist firefighting capability at maritime incidents. The team could be flown by helicopter to assist vessels offshore.

During his career, Steve attended numerous maritime incidents at sea and alongside. Prior to retirement from the Fire Service,he attended and managed operational incidents and was responsible for the management of four fire stations and the Maritime unit and fire boat in Falmouth, UK.

Steve is also a qualified and experienced fire and arson investigator.

This first-hand experience of real emergencies provides an important foundation for the practical approach taken by Wilco Marine Training. His approach is centred on taking recognised safety procedures, training principles and applying them to the real operational environment onboard a vessel.
